1. Peterborough is home to the world’s highest hydraulic Lift Lock, a National Historic Site of Canada.
2. Peterborough is home to the Canadian Canoe Museum, which has the largest collection of canoes, kayaks and paddled watercraft in the world.
3. Petroglyphs Provincial Park, located in Peterborough County has the largest known concentration of indigenous rock carvings in Canada.
4. You can see 2 of only a handful of authentic Jacquard looms that can be viewed in North America at Lang Pioneer Village Museum.
5. Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park is the largest wilderness preserve south of Algonquin Park in Ontario.

It’s also home to one of the “Top 100 Unusual Things to See in Ontario” – a disappearing river.
