Green Key Global Awards Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City with Four and Five Green Ratings

Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City Properties Recognized for Environmental Management and Corporate Social Responsibility

Atlantic City – October 8, 2019 – Caesars Entertainment’s three Atlantic City properties received “green keys” from Green Key Global for leadership and commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.

Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City participated in the Green Key Meetings Program, designed to assess lodging and event facilities that host meetings of any size. Developed in collaboration with Meeting Professionals International, the Green Key Meetings Program awarded each Caesars Entertainment property at least four out of five keys for their sustainable operations at the facility level. Green Key Global is a 20-year Canadian-based leading international certification body that offers standardized programs and resources, designed specifically for the hotel and meetings industries. The organization is Global Sustainable Tourism Council recognized, affirming their commitment to promoting sustainable tourism products and services.

“Our team members, as well as our customers, have embraced a comprehensive corporate sustainability program,” said Steve Van Der Molen, Caesars Entertainment Vice President Meeting Operations, Atlantic City Region. “They are excited about supporting and challenging the status quo and it will help us build a better environment and community in which we live and work. For example, we bale our own cardboard at Harrah’s Atlantic City Waterfront Conference Center. Customers are always amazed by the volume of cardboard that is required for meetings and conventions.”

Bally’s Atlantic City received a five-key rating, while the other two properties received four. Overall, the three Atlantic City properties exemplified high standards of environmental and social responsibility in relation to their meetings and convention facilities and practices. This includes documented energy reduction plans, further strengthened by Caesars Entertainment’s specific objectives and numeric targets.

Including Harrah’s Atlantic City Waterfront Conference Center – the largest hotel-conference center from Baltimore to Boston – Caesars Entertainment offers over 208,000 square feet of flexible meeting space in Atlantic City. Green Key Global highlighted the meeting space for its tactics used by facility operations to reduce waste during meetings, such as: exclusively electronic communications with meeting planners, donating used goods to the community and displaying a preference for reusable versus disposable table settings.

“We have a strong track record of environmental and socio-economic progress that is essential to our operations, as well as to meeting our guests’ expectations of us as a responsible business. I’d like to commend Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City for demonstrating a commitment to Responsible Meetings,” said Gwen Migita, Caesars Entertainment Global Head of Social Impact, Equity & Sustainability. “Our exemplary work in Atlantic City continues off property, as well. Caesars Entertainment community engagement efforts in New Jersey include working with groups such as the National Park Trust and Cure for a Cause.” Harrah’s Atlantic City also recently completed a $56 million guest room and suite renovation in its Coastal Tower, featuring 507 finely-appointed guest-rooms & suites. The room and suite upgrades are part of Caesars Entertainment’s total investment of over $250 million into its Atlantic City casino-resorts over the last five years, which includes the $125 million Waterfront Conference Center, the revamped Pool After Dark nightclub, and Gordon Ramsay Steak, the seven-Michelin star chef and television personality’s first steakhouse concept in the tri-state area.

In contributing to a high sustainability rating, Green Key Global noted Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City feature guestrooms that have high-efficiency plumbing fixtures. As a whole, Caesars Entertainment reduced its 12-month water usage by over 10% in Atlantic City. Each property also received bonus innovation points for the housekeeping and meetings operations staff’s monthly efficiency audits to reduce utility usage and increase water diversion.

“Doing what’s right for the world and for the environment is, often times, what’s right for your business,” said Caesars Entertainment Chief Sales Officer Michael Massari. “We are honored to receive the ‘4 and 5 Green Key Meetings’ rating and we look forward to even more achievements to come.”

Our Story

No matter when and where you grew up, chances are your parents took you on some sort of family vacation. Sometimes they picked a place because it interested them, and then basically dragged you along as an extra piece of luggage. Other times, if you got lucky, they decided on somewhere that would appeal to both them and you. Enter Canada’s favourite vacation destination, Niagara Falls, a popular choice for parents who wanted nothing less than to bond with their children over family-friendly activities and a world-famous natural wonder. Little did you know at the time, but this experience meant more to them than you could ever imagine. Watching you lean onto the railing in awe of nature’s beauty, just as their parents did decades before, sparked a feeling of nostalgia and the hope that, when your time came, you too would share the same rite of passage with your children.

There’s that Niagara Falls, the one you recall with such fond memories, and there’s the Niagara Falls that exists today. Reluctant to grow up too quickly, we’ve matured beyond even the greatest of expectations. People look at our destination now as something virtually unrecognizable to what it once was, so much so it has us pinching ourselves to make sure what they’re seeing is true. If you’re wondering who exactly these people are, as a matter of fact, they are you. It is you who have chosen to see Niagara Falls for what it’s become, that special place you know from your childhood and have adored ever since. Only this time, you’re not a kid anymore, and instead of helping organize a family vacation, you’re planning a business event.

Events like these come so naturally that you can probably plan them with your eyes closed. Even if you could, try planning them through the eyes of a child instead. Learn to see Niagara Falls as the playground where your imagination runs wild, and almost anything seems possible. The building blocks of possibility already exist here. It’s up to you to discover what creative adventures can be taken with them. Getting your event outside of its normal element, where the views act as a pleasant distraction, is exactly the change of scenery you need. Many of these iconic scenes are already bursting with lush greens and cool blues; this way, you don’t have to choose between colouring within the lines and drawing outside them. Whatever it is you end up designing, promise you’ll take a timeout to daydream about all the wonders that make for an unforgettable experience in Niagara Falls. Because, if there’s something worth dreaming about, it’s a business event that excites you every day until it happens. And when it finally does, you’re sure to come across a new kind of feeling, the urge to do it all over again.

Great Ottawa Restaurants

previous arrow

Slider
Ottawa’s vibrant culinary community has deep roots: there are over 1300 farms located within the city limits and the resulting local products are used by many Ottawa chefs. The result? Fresh, inventive and flavourful creations that will have you drooling. Here is just a sample of the great restaurants in Canada’s Capital, in no particular order.

French flair: Signatures Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu

Did you know that the famed Le Cordon Bleu cooking school has its North American headquarters in Ottawa? Even better, there’s an on-site restaurant! Signatures Executive Chef Yannick Anton creates unique flavours by applying classic French techniques to local ingredients. The setting is perfect for a romantic meal: a charming 1877 historic lumber baron’s mansion in a leafy neighbourhood just southeast of downtown.

Triple threat: Beckta Dining & Wine, Play Food & Wine and Gezellig

Ottawan Stephen Beckta worked as a sommelier in New York City before returning to Ottawa to open his first restaurant in 2003. The restaurateur now runs three establishments that continue to impress:

  • Beckta Dining & Wine Bar holds a CAA Four-Diamond designation and is known as one of the best restaurants in the city. Its location in a renovated heritage building on Elgin Street matches its personality. Enjoy an unforgettable meal in one of the elegant dining room spaces, or order from the curated wine list in the welcoming wine bar. You won’t forget the fresh flavours and impeccable service!
  • Play Food & Wine is the more playful sister restaurant located in the vibrant ByWard Market neighbourhood. It specializes in small plates that are so good, you may or may not want to share them. Ask for a seat at the kitchen bar upstairs to watch the chefs work their magic in the tiny open space.
  • Though Gezellig is the most casual of the Beckta restaurant family, it’s just as impressive. It’s located in the trendy Westboro area just west of downtown, and the modern menu is designed for the loyal neighbourhood clientele. Gezellig is a fitting name: it means a convivial and cozy atmosphere in Dutch.

Tasty trifecta: El Camino, Datsun and Riviera

Chef Jordan Holley and his team have opened some of the most popular restaurants in downtown Ottawa over the past few years (and yes, they named them all after classic cars!):

  • The first, El Camino, opened on bustling Elgin Street and was so popular that a second location opened in the ByWard Market neighbourhood. The trendy and laid-back eateries serve Mexican-inspired dishes with bold flavours. At the original location, taco lovers line up at the handy take-out window (perfect for late-night cravings).
  • Next, the power duo opened Datsun next door to the original El Camino. Sit back in the casual and hip space and order a few of the Asian-inspired small plates. Try the gooey steamed buns, rich ramen or tasty dumplings. The drinks are equally delicious.
  • The third sister restaurant, Riviera, is perhaps the most stylish and revered of the three. The grand, neo-classical space inside a former bank building on Sparks Street near Parliament Hill will remind you of the most stylish Manhattan restaurant. The perfect atmosphere to enjoy exquisitely-crafted cocktails and locally-inspired cuisine.

Hip hotel fare: feast + revel

Feast + revel at the Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market is not your typical hotel restaurant. Chef Stephen La Salle offers up inventive Canadian cuisine with local flair in a sleek space on the ground floor of the chic property. After your meal, head up to the hotel’s rooftop lounge, Copper Spirits + Sights, and enjoy some of the best sunset views in the city. Both the restaurant and lounge have a great selection of some of Ottawa’s popular local craft beer.

Classic elegance: Restaurant e18hteen

The posh Restaurant e18hteen, located in a historic building in the ByWard Market neighbourhood, boasts a CAA Four-Diamond designation. Their seasonal menu features modern French cuisine carefully prepared using local ingredients. The high ceilings and rustic exposed stone walls are punctuated with modern elements. A stylish space to share a memorable meal with that special someone!

Fusion perfection: SIDEDOOR

Located behind Restaurant e18hteen, SIDEDOOR serves dishes inspired by the street food of Southeast Asia, with the unexpected touch of Mexican flavours. Try the char siu pork belly tacos or crispy maple tofu, and leave room for the hand rolled mini-donuts. You won’t regret it!

Magical meal: Atelier

Atelier, located near Ottawa’s Little Italy, is a foodie’s dream destination. The multi-course tasting menu is prepared using hypermodern culinary techniques and technology (think molecular gastronomy). Each dish is Instagram and award-worthy: innovative chef/owner Marc Lepine is the first chef to win the gold medal at the Canadian Culinary Championships twice!

Modern Middle Eastern: Fairouz

As a very multicultural world capital, Ottawa boasts many well-respected ethnic restaurants. One of the newer ones on the scene, Fairouz, serves elevated Middle Eastern cuisine in a renovated Centretown mansion. Chef Walid El-Tawel creates dishes that are as tasty as they are pretty. If you’re a regular at Ottawa’s popular shawarma and falafel shops, you must try Fairouz!

Modern Quebecois : Le Cellier

Le Cellier (The Cellar) is a foodie favourite in the charming Vieux-Hull sector of Gatineau, Quebec. The classy yet cozy interior is the perfect setting for expertly prepared Quebecois cuisine paired with impressive wines. Take advantage of the cheekily named weekly specials, including “Tartares tard tard” (late night tartares) on Thursdays, and “mercredi 5@huître” (oysters, Wednesdays 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Bon appétit!

Hawaii is the picture-perfect destination for MICE programs in countless different ways, and while they vary depending on your group and goals, here are ten list-topping reasons “Why Hawaii” should lead the list for your next meeting, tradeshow or convention.

Productive Atmosphere

Aloha’s ambiance: Survey data confirms that attendees leave Hawaii feeling refreshed, invigorated and completely at ease. It’s a setting that fosters the flow of ideas, inspires ingenuity and innovation, and nurtures stronger working relationships and better teamwork.

Accommodations

When it comes to hospitality, Hawaii’s world-class hotels and resorts set the bar for hookipa (hospitality). You’ll find more than 50,000 combined overnight rooms throughout Hawaii’s six major islands — Oahu, Maui, Island of Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai and Molokai — at every price point and in every style.

International Accessibility

For global gatherings, Hawaii is in prime location. It’s easy to get to Hawaii from Canada, and Hawaii’s multilingual, multicultural population makes people from all around the world feel welcome.

Experiential Offerings

Where else can attendees become paniolo (cowboys), hula dancers, volcano explorers or surfing legends for the day? The opportunities for one-of-a-kind teambuilding opportunities and memorable offsite events are endless.

Natural Wonders

Beyond simply “beautiful,” Hawaii suggests that Mother Nature does play favorites. The islands’ lush landscapes and sublime scenic vistas make Hawaii a consistently compelling draw for attendees.

Hawaii Convention Center

The Hawaii Convention Center stands apart from any other: state-of-the-art, situated in the heart of Honolulu and distinctly reflecting the culture and character of the islands.

Off-Program Activities

History. Culture. Shopping. Dining. Attractions. Sports and recreation. And some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Hawaii has it all, and in abundance.

Sun & Surf

It almost goes without saying, but we have to mention the near-perfect weather, averaging 25° Celsius year round — perfect for attendees to enjoy Hawaii’s beautiful beaches as time allows. Whatever your event, there’s never a bad time to book Hawaii.
