Our neighborhood

At the turn of the 20th century, our neighborhood known as the Golden Square Mile was once home to some of Canada’s richest businessmen and many were of Scottish descent.  Remnants of its prestigious past still remain with gorgeous Victorian homes, beautiful parks, magnificent mature trees and architectural masterpieces.

Now part of the lively downtown core, the Golden Square Mile boasts a variety of department stores, chic boutiques, trendy bars, restaurants and clubs, theatres, cinemas and an abundance of art galleries including the matriarch of arts, Le Musée des Beaux Arts.

We are steps away from the world famous Quartier des Spectacles and other cultural venues where most of Montreal’s festivals are held.

We are linked to Montreal’s vast underground pedestrian network and are opposite the McGill University campus and the famous landmark the city got its name from – Mount-Royal.
