The Leaders Circle

The Leaders Circle program partners with the city’s top thinkers, innovators, academics and researchers to attract international meetings to Toronto. Conventions and citywide business meetings help to strengthen Toronto’s global reputation, promote innovation and leave a legacy of social and economic benefits to the city and region.

Business events make a significant contribution to the city. The 2018 Leaders Circle Recognition Gala recently honoured 12 leading experts whose efforts to bring high-profile international meetings generated more than $63 million in economic impact for Toronto. Without a local ambassador, 70 per cent of international conventions would not consider an overseas destination.

Toronto is a world leader in life sciences, tech and finance and is making in-roads into renewable energy. The promotion of the city’s intellectual assets to the world helps meeting planners enhance content and programming, exhibitor base, attendance and sponsorship.

The Leaders Circle is an excellent resource for planners, according to manager Kathy Nicolay: “We are connected to those industry experts who know exactly what is happening in our city in their respective fields.”

Collision heading to Toronto

Collision, North America’s fastest-growing tech conference, will build on the Toronto region’s momentum as a hub for technology and innovation, by holding its gathering in the city in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Toronto will host the 2019 conference May 20–23 at the Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place.

Collision, created by the team behind Web Summit, the world’s largest and most influential tech event, attracts CEOs of the world’s largest companies, founders of exciting startups, leading investors and media, from more than 120 countries. “There is such energy in the city, such an open, cosmopolitan and global atmosphere. Great companies are being started and incredible talent is coming out of the region,” says Paddy Cosgrave, CEO of Web Summit. It will be the first time the conference will be held outside of the U.S. “Hosting a conference of this magnitude demonstrates how meetings and events can be a powerful catalyst for economic development for sectors like technology and innovation, showcasing and elevating the booming tech industry, people and companies that have made the Toronto region a tech powerhouse,” says Johanne Bélanger, president and CEO of Tourism Toronto.

Dining & Nightlife

Kingston is pure magic. It’s kind of like a town out of a fairy tale: it’s got beautiful waterfront views, nice people, unique spots to visit, and beautiful things to see. Not only is it a great place to visit, but Kingston also happens to have a world-class culinary scene. So, prepare to never go hungry, and discover a new favourite dish.

With more restaurants per capita than almost any other city in Canada, your biggest decision is where to take your group to dine. Local produce, artisanal cheeses, farm-raised meats and the nearby wineries of Prince Edward County make every meal memorable.
