Montréal Celebrates 375 Years of History With An Entire Year of Festivities!

375Years

Montréal is a city that loves to celebrate and, in 2017, with activities and surprises around every corner the island will be more festive than ever.

The year is an ideal time for groups of all sizes to use the city as a backdrop for a meeting or event. Whether a reward trip, a strategic board meeting or anything in between, here are a few ways to take advantage of the festivities!

THE BIG THEMES!

The year of celebrations will be divided into four distinct themes. Which one works best for your group?

Montréal lights up
(December 2016 – January 2017)
The festivities launched at the end of 2016. Montréal lights up and shines city-wide: downtown skyscrapers, residential neighbourhoods, public spaces, the summit of Mount Royal. The city will be illuminated. It promises to be a great, magical gathering that will bring together everyone who loves Montréal. An inspiring setting for a last-minute board meeting.

Montréal gets moving
(February – April 2017)
Montréal’s northern energy is the inspiration behind the many activities that invite people to play outside in the winter and early spring air. Sports, recreational and competitive activities as well as other festivities will be on the program. Team building activities abound.

Montréal ignites
(May – September 2017)
It’s time to celebrate Montréal’s roots: its history and heritage, not to mention its identity and diversity, in high style! Festivals, tastings, church bell concerts and neighbourhood tours — the list is long. Montrealers and visitors will have the time of their life. The perfect time for a cocktail party or reward trip!

Montréal reinvents
(October – December 2017)
With 2017 coming to a close, it’s time to look toward the future. Let’s take advantage of the enthusiasm and positive energy sparked by the 375th celebrations to propel Montréal forward for the next 25 years. It’s the perfect atmosphere for strategic, long-term team planning!

What better way to pay tribute to Montréal’s 375th anniversary as one of the most vibrant cities in North America than by preserving, and creating, the legacy of the future?

There are some three-dozen so-called “legacy projects” either already underway or scheduled to commence in the months to come at key locations throughout the city. They are comprised of all sizes and forms of initiatives designed to transform the way one experiences the city. From a lengthy new promenade, to a modern-day cruise terminal makeover, to avant garde artistic expressions, these improvements and additions will provide numerous benefits for both visitors and Montrealers alike in the years to come.
